Here are some thoughts to hopefully help steer you in the right direction for ASO (App Store Optimization).
So you want to rank in the app store huh?
It starts with thinking like the customer.
What kind of wording are they using when looking for your type of app?
Ultimately you need to get good reviews. There are ways that you can encourage this. Some apps will prompt users that return to use the app several times to post a review. If they are using the app repeatedly chances are that they like the app.
App store optimization is a complex subject but here is a list of things that you definitely need to be considering:
1. Try to use your keywords in your App Title.
2. Optimize you App Icon. Not too complex. Ideally it should speak about what your app actually does or its advangages (visually/quickly).
3. Utilize video if possible.
4. Localize your keywords. Translate your ASO efforts and your app into other languages.
5. Keywords in the App description are important for the store searches in matching you.
ASO is important. Around 60% of app installs are the result of searching in the App Store. Around 15% are from searching in the search engines.
Remember congruence from geometry? Well, it applies a lot to marketing. For example, your ads need to match the landing page. If you are using keywords to advertise the keywords should be congruent with the ad text which should be congruent with the landing page and any offer on the landing page should be congruent with the whole mix. Just keep this principle in mind because it is one of the most important principles of marketing.
